Lever Edge Primary School in Bolton shows the two kinds of fencing a school usually needs side by side. Around the areas children use we fitted bow top railings - the rounded hoop top has no points to catch on and is the standard choice for playgrounds.
Where the site needed a secure boundary we fitted green polyester powder-coated steel palisade fencing with matching palisade gates and a steel gate, so the perimeter is as hard to climb as an industrial one but in a colour that suits a school.
Bow top railings and palisade are often specified together on school sites: railings where safety matters most, palisade where security matters most, both powder-coated to match.
