Types Of Steel Metal Railings

Mesh panel fencing is a type of fencing that consists of welded wire mesh panels that are secured to fence posts to create a sturdy and durable barrier. Mesh panel fences are widely used for various applications due to their versatility, security features, and aesthetic appeal.

  • The welded wire mesh fencing system combines shape and panel strength for a pleasing see-through perspective.
  • Weld mesh fencing panels come in widths of 2.5m, 2.75m, and 3m but can be cut to any size.
  • Each panel is made from drawn steel wires which are welded at every intersection to give rigidity.
  • Wire thickness ranges between 4mm and 8mm and some panels such as 868 for example are made using a combination (i.e. 8mm, on 6mm, on 8mm hence the name).

Wire mesh panel fencing is cost effective, and is a good security choice if you want something a little less aggressive looking with more see-through appearance.

Description of V-Mesh Fencing

V-Mesh fencing refers to a type of welded wire mesh, designed to create a secure barrier, with a see-through appearence. It's commonly used in applications such as agricultural fencing, perimeter security, animal enclosures, school security, and more. The term "VMesh" is sometimes used a generic descriptor, but more specifically, it refers to this specific type of mesh fencing, with it's unique designs and specifications.

Description of Twin-wire Fencing

Twin-wire 868 is the strongest and most rigid mesh panel fencing system. Twin-wire 656 is slightly less heavy duty, but still easily the next strongest and rigid mesh panel fencing system. Wire mesh spacing is 200mm x 50mm and is strengthened by two 8mm horizontal wires on each side of a 6mm vertical wire (or 6mm and 5mm on 656 mesh).

Twin-wire mesh is extremely strong and has excellent rebound properties making it an ideal choice for sports grounds or other high impact areas like parks or ball courts.

Description of 358 Fencing

358 mesh fencing, also known as "prison mesh" or "anti-climb mesh fencing," is a high-security fencing system specifically designed to provide a strong and durable barrier with excellent visibility and anti-intrusion capabilities. The name "358" refers to the dimensions of the mesh openings: 3 inches by 0.5 inches by 8-gauge wire, which makes it highly resistant to cutting, climbing, and forced entry.

  • Mesh Aperture
    • The mesh openings are very narrow, typically 76.2 mm x 12.7 mm (3 inches x 0.5 inches), making it difficult for intruders to insert fingers, tools, or footholds.
    • The close spacing of wires prevents climbing and penetration, even with small tools like bolt cutters.
  • Material
    • TMade from 8-gauge steel wire (approximately 4 mm in diameter), which is highly durable and resistant to mechanical impact.
    • The steel wire is often coated with a layer of zinc (galvanization) or powder-coated to prevent rust and corrosion, ensuring long-term performance.
  • Anti-Climb Properties:
    • The small mesh apertures do not allow fingers or toes to grip the surface, which makes it nearly impossible to climb without specialized equipment.
  • Cut-Resistance:
    • The heavy-duty 8-gauge wire and the dense mesh pattern make it difficult to cut the fence using standard hand tools, providing an additional layer of security.
  • Visibility:
    • Despite its strength, 358 mesh fencing offers excellent visibility due to the narrow, flat profile of the wires. This makes it suitable for surveillance purposes, as it allows clear sight lines for cameras and security personnel.
